After just a couple days in South Africa, I found myself making the drive to Swaziland for the first time. It has been good to meet up with our staff and the teams in this area. God is blessing the ministries here and it is great to be a part of it if even for a couple days.
I woke up this morning to a beautiful view of the hills in Swaziland, it was green and lush and i just wanted to take it in all morning.
We ate breakfast at Jumbo and Kriek’s this morning and enjoyed a little time with them before we were off to an informal school and a quick visit to a hospital today. The testimony of Gugu who started the school was great. She made a deal with these young kids that she would teach them and give them something to do with their days if they promised to stop having sex with each other. They were all so young that it seemed impossible but when there is nothing to do people turn to all kinds of things.
Now, she has about 40 kids that she teaches regularly and her words are that these kids are keeping their end of the bargain as well. In an area of the world that has some of the highest rates of HIV, she is not just educating these kids but she is keeping them alive and offering them a huge blessing as well as she teaches them about Christ and shows them his love in a very practical way.
There are many stories to share and hers is just one.
We will be in Swaziland for just a couple more days. Tomorrow night we will stay in one of the homesteads with some of the AIM Staff and a swazi family. Tonight we are having a barbeque with all of the AIM staff in the area. It is great to be here and be a part of what God is doing in this part of the world.
I will try and write again soon. I will post some pictures of the area once i get home, i just don’t have time to upload them all right now.
Thanks for your prayers. Please continue to pray that we would be a blessing to all that we visit. Pray also for the prospective staff members that i am traveling with that God would clearly show them if this is the place for them or not. I would ask as well the you would pray that Ben and I would be given wisdom as we help those traveling with us process what they are seeing and what God is speaking to them.
Thanks friends,
Scott
